ACA Registered Counsellor and Practice founder at Above the Waves Counselling. Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator offering premarital and relationship assessment, enrichment, and counselling.

I specialise in supporting individuals and couples experiencing issues with anxiety, depression, relationships, parenting, self-esteem, life transitions, grief and loss, addictions, trauma, women’s issues, and general counselling support.

My integrative, client-centred approach tailors therapy to the individual person and incorporates a variety of evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and the Gottman Method. As a Master of Counselling trained therapist I help clients understand underlying issues that are contributing to their presenting concerns, develop greater self-awareness, understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, learn new strategies, make positive changes, and work through troubling issues.

With a background as a teacher, former school chaplain, wife of 30 years, and mother of five I have extensive experience with common issues individuals, couples, and families encounter. I provide a warm, empathetic, and accepting therapy experience for my clients and focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance. I have also worked as a wellbeing counsellor with adult international students and practice from a culturally sensitive, trauma informed framework. My approach emphasises the client’s strengths and encourages them that change is possible to help clients find clarity, hope, and purpose.
